Hot Mexico Sightseeing: destinations.
Stunning coastline vistas and an amazing diversity of protected ecosystems make the Mexican Riviera Maya one of the hottest sightseeing destinations on the planet. The setting is sublime, white sand beaches washed by the clear Caribbean Sea with dense jungle and ancient Mayan ruins as a backdrop. You can even take a dolphin ride in a tropical lagoon, surrounded by palm trees, overlooking the open water at any one of the Dolphinaris locations on the Riviera Maya coast, member of the EAAM. The following are five spectacular places you must visit in Mexico, each with the luxury of letting you live a dolphin swim dream.
This historic town has two world renowned sights to take in. Perched on an ocean bluff, the well-preserved ruins of a hugely important Mayan trading town look over a white sand beach in Tulum. This is sightseeing Indiana Jones style where you can also swim where the Mayans did.
The Sian Ka’an Biosphere (Origin of the Sky) World Heritage Site is one of the most sensitive and ecologically diverse ecosystems in the hemisphere, complete with duned beaches, tropical mangroves, and lagoons, in an area inhabited by monkeys, jaguars, crocodiles and all manner of terrestrial and marine life.
In this superbly complete beach town, you can fly behind a boat in a parasail with a stunning view of the Riviera Maya or speed towards the horizon on a jet ski. The area also has some of the most amazing cave/cavern diving in the world. Visitors to the subterranean rivers “cenotes” can dive or snorkel these crystal clear underground waterways with professionally operated tours.
The glorious island of Cozumel lies just offshore from the heart of the Riviera Maya, surrounded by Caribbean waters. A tourist submarine is available to take you dryly under the waves for a spectacular vista of the sea life. The main plaza itself is a treat for the eyes, with colorful vendors, traditional Mayan fire shows and a regular Sunday night dance where locals and tourists party together into the night. A place with a big amount of animal life, Cozumel is a destination for a dolphin ride and diving above corals or watching sea turtles.
Cancun boasts 14 miles of beautiful beaches. The sights include all manner of water craft and great people watching. The waters just offshore are home to a rich diversity of life, including large populations of bottlenosed dolphins. That makes Cancun the perfect place for a dolphin ride. On land, the “El Rey” Mayan ruin complex is well-preserved. And it is located right in Cancun’s resort zone.
Once a quaint fishing village, the “Island of Women” is a desired destination for travelers seeking a slower pace and the serene natural beauty of this tiny island (and sea turtle breeding ground). The Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA), is a spectacle of modern art sculptures rising from the sea floor. It is only a short boat ride away from the island and accessible to divers and snorkelers alike.
